About Airport Welding & Mufflers
Airport Welding & Muffler can trace its roots back to the 1940’s in Carnation, where Richard and his father George ran Pioneer Farm Service. In 1948, the family moved to California and opened Corona Iron Works. Two years later, they opened Somerville Service Station in Santa Anna. The station changed hands in 1955 and Richard and his father went back to Corona and opened Corona Welding. Desiring a quieter lifestyle, Richard moved the family back to Washington in 1972.
Richard’s interest in flying brought him to Harvey Field in Snohomish. This led to the opening of Airport Welding & Muffler. Over the years, the business grew to employ several men full-time. In the spring of 2015, we celebrated 43 years in business! Currently, there are eight either full or part-time employees, including Owners Richard and Peggy Somerville, their son Rick (manager), grandson Matt (asst. manager) and their daughters, Lucinda (bookkeeper) and Beverly (office manager). Also having worked at Airport Welding for more than 25 years (and considered family)is our lead technician Curt.
More recently we hired Issac who has been doing an excellent job installing trailer hitches, custom exhaust work, and general welding. We also hired David, a recent graduate of Snohomish High School, who has proven himself to be a solid worker and fast learning technician. We also hired Jonny, a student at Snohomish High School, to help with keeping the shop clean and organized as he also begins to learn the trade.
